Longer wheel studs aren't required for 1/4in spacers, right?
What if I don't need the 1/4in, what's stopping me from using washers? (I like my backspacing as is and am trying to change it as little as I can)
I'll explain quickly below but very long story short, my wheels brush against my calipers but instead of grinding them down more I'm trying to add just the slightest gap.

Brief tl;dr - Bought new wheels a while back and they didn't fit despite being told by the store they would. I didn't notice it at first and tried to drive, and rubbed the shit out of my brakes. So I took off the wheels, sanded the backs of the spokes (to clean them up; left a big burr visible from the outside) and ground down my calipers quite a bit to get them to fit. Worked great. But now I've rotated my tires and since the clean wheels are up front now and the back of the spokes never had metal rubbed off, they brush against the calipers whenever I brake hard like on a steep decline. Instead of grinding on the wheels and potentially messing with the balance, or grinding on the brakes more than I already have, I'm looking for a way to add maybe 2-3mm of space just to help things clear.
