I did the 4 pin hitch wiring thing but then switched it to tapping into the factory wiring. Here is a good write-up.

It is easy to do. Ends up being a lot cleaner. Since I use my 7 pin all the time having something plugged into the 4 pin was less convenient. It required modifying the factory covers for the hitch connections.
