If that switch works properly, then I'd be looking at a faulty switch on the master switch panel. If that is also intermittently failing, I'd look at a broken wire in the boot, probably on the drivers door, but potentially on the rear passenger door.

The switch on the rear door works flawlessly, it's just the driver door switch that's intermittent. Noticed that there's no boot on the rear door wires, just a bundle of wires wrapped in electrical tape. Looks like someone's been in there before me.
