There is indeed a forward facing vent that some skid manufacturers replicate in different ways. But I think what you're referring to as ducting is the factory jacking point (that happens to be hollow to let air pass). Most aftermarket skids are just strong enough as is to jack from.

If you're worried about it being OEM approved, see the TRD factory skid. It has some simple vent holes but none of this ducting. Haven't heard any problems of transmissions or anything overheating due to lack of skid venting.
