Half your reservoir got empty, and you likely pushed some air into the ABS actuator. Lesson learned about always capping the lines, eh?
Even in the earlier 4Runners, it sometimes helps having the engine on to help the bleed process, though that isn't guaranteed to help and shouldn't be required.
