To add, one big problem with an air mattress is that if it’s cold outside, you will never warm up, the air inside of the bed will never warm up to your body temp since it is a mass of non insulated air. as the night goes on it will actually get colder as the temp keeps dropping. When I would use an air mattress in the winter I would always regret it

Your right about the thermal properties of an air mattress in cold weather. I’ve used another insulation foam layer below an air mattress like a Thermarest pad. I like your memory foam idea. A “topper”? You cut it with a razor knife? The queen size dimensions fit better than a full size? Thx.
