I just thought of something - why not wire up the 4Runner headlights the way the way my Range Rover operates:

- Both have adaptive hi beams
- Both have projector driving beams and halogen/reflector hi beams next to them

I was in the Range Rover the other day and was checking out what exactly happens when I pull the high beam stalk.

- Not only do the inner reflector/halogen beams illuminate for the dedicated high beams, but there is an “eyelid” in the projector beam that raises the cutoff of the driving beams to make it run wide open.

This “have your beams and shine them, too” approach sounds wonderful if it can be achieved while staying within power limitations of the wiring harness. I imagine this would mean buying those LED DRL’s from Xenon Depot and splicing over either:

1.) The wires for the high beams directly to the DRLs, to parallel those when the hi beams are triggered, or

2.) If the above would cause issues, splice a trigger off the hi beams and let it control a dedicated power supply to the new DRL hi beams.

Could this work?
