Based on past experience with Toyota and other fine brands of vehicle, clutch chatter, once established, never gets better, only gets worse, and the driver has to define how much chatter he/she is willing to live with. My current clutch chatters a little bit, on rare occasions, usually when hot. But it is old, has bearing noise, and has at least 120K miles on it, 30-50K of which was with the PO... who I suspect was a heavy clutch user/abuser.
