9" wide wheels with -12 offset, with 285's is exactly flush with the fender and the tread edge. The tread is still "tucked" inside the top of the fender, but the sidewall bulges beyond the fender line.
Yeah, and it'll still fling rocks though.
-38 is gonna give you an inch of tread poking out of the fender, I don't think it'll be either practical or a good look for the 4Runner.
I'm unsure if I'd categorize -12 as "practical", but it looks darn good.
My suggestion is the gold, it'll look amazing. The black will look like every other black wheel in passing.
