Review: LASFIT 42 inch LED Amber Combo Light Bar

Full disclosure: @lasfit provided their 42" Amber Combo lens light bar to me for this independent review. I pride myself on providing unbiased and honest opinions on many topics on this forum.

I was looking at replacing my old dual row lightbar with a single row for a slimmer profile, and already had LASFIT in mind, when I saw the testing invitation from LASFIT. Also, I had already replaced most of my interior and exterior lights with LASFIT LED lights and am very happy with them which is why I was highly considering this light bar when I saw it was released.

Here is the link to the product: Lasfit 42" Off-Road LED Amber Light Bar With Slim Single Row Combo Flo

Being a system and flight test engineer, I love the opportunity to put a product through a rigorous test cycle. It wouldn't have been an apples to apples comparison in a controlled test environment, but I had planned to pit the LASFIT light bar against my old AUXBEAM dual row. Alas, that opportunity did not come to pass, as shortly before I received the LASFIT bar, my AUXBEAM took its last breath. I did manage to get one quick picture of the light output from the AUXBEAM so I will show that in a later post against the light output of the LASFIT.

I will brush over the "unboxing" portion of this since it looks like that has been covered a few times already. I will say that the light bar is packaged very well and arrived with no damage. The light bar comes two sets of back mounting brackets and one set of side mounting brackets and three decal stickers. HELL YEAH STICKERS LOL. We all know we buy things for stickers! The light bar appears to be built very well and the finish is very good.

The amber lens color is actually a near perfect match to my 30" Diode Dynamics bar in the bumper. I don't have any pictures of that light output yet but I will update this post later to compare to the larger LASFIT. The DD bar is double the price though for a smaller bar and my initial thoughts are that the LASFIT bar is more bang for the buck. I don't use RIGID or BD because for what I do with my vehicle, they haven't bought their way on. While I would love to get my hands on some, they just aren't financially practical for me with the need to provide for my family.

Let's move on to some features of the LASFIT bar that I would like to highlight:

1. There are two different ways you can mount this light bar! I hadn't seen this before, and I think this is very useful. If traditional side mounts won't work for your application, the rear mounting option (and provided brackets) provide incredible flexibility in mounting application. I mounted the light bar traditionally from the sides, but if that wasn't going to work for me, I was going to use the rear mounts. I have had to find different light bars in the past because they didn't fit within my side mounting dimensions. The rear mount feature is a game changer.

2. The light bar has an IP67 waterproof rating with a polycarbonate lens so it can stand up to the elements. I like to test these things so I actually put the light bar under water in my bathtub for 30 minutes and I have driven through a thunderstorm in the pouring rain and the light bar has performed flawlessly. The amber color was especially helpful in heavy fog and rain. My old AUXBEAM and current DD bars have held up to the same abuse and more and performed flawlessly as well. I would not hesitate to buy either again, save for the higher price of DD.

3. The price point for this light bar is very competitive in the mid range market. I had no idea how this light bar would perform in the scenarios I put it through, but I am now convinced it is well worth the price and one of the best bang for your buck options on the market. I wouldn't hesitate purchasing more LASFIT lighting products.

4. The sleek low profile design without screw heads on the front is very nice and will hold up well over time. This means that the lenses are not interchangeable though. The black paint on the screw heads on my DD bar which I've had for less than a year has already worn off. That being said, I still do love my DD bar; It's superb quality and light output for the price as well, but more than twice the price of LASFIT. I will put the LASFIT bar through more grueling tests as time goes on but so far the finish and lens have held up extremely well.
