Got some well needed maintenance done today. Through my years of owning I never did plugs and coils, and figured now would be the time! I looked into spark plug replacement and found 1A Auto. Not only did it seem like quality parts, but the amount of install videos that they have for 4G 4Runners is phenomenal!
These videos have helped me along the way of working on this, and from that help I decided to give them a shot. And it couldn’t be easier. They have a plugs and coils pack you can buy for $160ish. Normally with plugs I’m buying are the most expensive just for assurance, but these are iridium and come pre-gapped to the recommended .043.
When the pack came in, everything was boxed nice. One of the plug boxes was clearly crushed a little bit, and sure enough the plug was at 0.05. With a gap tool it was easily moved back to 0.043. The other 5 measured perfectly.
Swapping plugs and coils is easy. The driver’s side was a PITA with the catch can, PowerTray, etc installed. But removing a lot of the EVAP stuffs out of the way made it easy.
The old plugs were shot!!! Always had decent MPG’s even with the lift, tires, rack, etc. But I’m excited to see the long term benefits. It seems to be running more smoothly. Overall a fairly easy job (1hr 20min taking my sweet time and being careful) and the parts seem high quality.

Also bought a new gas cap from them, and it was Toyota OEM. Check engine light is gone too!
