Thank you for replying, Will take that into consideration. It looks like the 2.8 diesels are all 4 wheel drive versus 4x2 which all are 2.4 in the Hilux. Apparently they call 2 wheel drive 4x2 so it looks like it will be 2.8 in the Hilux for 4 wheel drive.

Looks like the motors there are 1GD-FTV and with a little digging says that they are indeed chain driven camshafts and crank. It is a new motor came out in 2015 and looks like they have worked out the bugs already. Apparently the 3.0 diesel was out for quite awhile. Thanks again BUDS590.
