Shrinking would've been good for offroading. Instead, the wheelbase got a couple inches longer, and the body got 4-5" longer. I'm sad for that, and actually wish it would've kept the old size or slightly smaller, along with the clearance for larger tires. I believe it was claimed that Toyota had to lengthen the wheelbase and overhangs to get clearance for the larger tires, like 33's, that they're going to be running on higher trims now.
You can spin all this stuff any way you want. Some could say they're getting fewer cylinders for their money, or some could say they're getting more torque for their money.
