I have bought direct from amsoil.com before, after I moved away from my local dealer. It was simple enough, and they have provided good customer service.

There are several in Charlotte NC.
However since your buying I assume about 12+ quarts of ATF which is pricey, you can sign up for the 'Preferred customer" thing which I usually do every other year or so when I have a order bigger than just a few quarts of oil.
Amsoil Synthetics Dealer of Charlotte, NC
AMSOIL Charlotte, NC Fulltime Source & Purchasing Center
you will actually save about 25% off the order so it is worth it and if you don't have anyone close then you can just order from the Website and have it shipped to your door.
That is probably you best and cheapest option.

Thanks man - What local store would sell Amsoil? I could just order it but I'm inpatient...

I don't think I've even seen it in a store. I did the same thing, found a nearby dealer online from the main Amsoil website, did the 6-mo Preferred Member thing and ordered a bunch of stuff. Quick shipment.
I wish I could find the stuff locally and not pay shipping plus I still get charged some tax.

Amsoil is very good oil, but having to order it from their site, wait for it to come, and how you have to re-apply to be a preferred customer every 6 months got old fast for me. Like I said, they make good oil, but so do plenty of other companies which you can just buy their products at any auto store. Amsoil's business model is a PITA for me, especially when I just need one quart to top something off and don't want to wait a week for it - or mix brands. I just use Valvoline now.

There was even a Post Office here that sold it in the Post Office.
But really is very easy to just order it online and order enough to do 2 oil changes plus 2 quarts extra and for me I am good to go for 2 Years.
That is why I usually just do it every couple of years, and usually some point before that year runs out I order a few of the "Performance Improver" to keep everything clean.

The only way to purchase AMSOIL is either through an independent dealer such as myself, through AMSOIL.com (you'll get assigned to a dealer) or from a retail who's been sponsored through an independent dealer. If you're in need of AMSOIL send me a PM.

Amsoil might be great oil, might even be the best in the world but their marketing scheme is a big scam. Pyramid scheme comes into mind. This is why their oil is so expensive.
You have to pay the seller, and the sellers sponsor, and the sponsor of the sponsor and so on. Ever person in this pyramid is getting a piece.
If they sold it with out all that BS, I would be an advocate for them.
This is my opinion and if you support this sales model, go for it.

Was actually thinking the same thing myself after hearing of their business model a few years back. However, after doing some research and having an open mind I realized it's actually a good business practice. Here's something I found from another AMSOIL dealer on a Corvette Forum:
"MLM is not a pyramid scheme. It is a viable method of getting products to consumer without the costs of a distribution network and intermediary costs. I have seen studies showing that MLM can actually get products to consumers with lower markup than can traditional distribution schemes except for the largest distributers such as Walmart whose costs are lower due to benefits of scale.
There are numerous reputable companies using MLM:
- Mary Kay
- Snap On
- Pampered Chef
- Discovery Toys
- Longaberger
AMSOIL has a documented history of innovation and leadership.
- First to develop an API-rated 100 percent synthetic motor oil.
- First to introduce the concept of "extended drain intervals" with a recommended 25,000-mile/1-year drain interval.
- First U.S. company to utilize the NOACK volatility test as a standard of performance excellence.
- First to produce synthetic motor oils for diesel engines, racing engines, turbo and marine engines.
- First to introduce synthetic oils that legitimately contribute to improving fuel efficiency.
- First to manufacture synthetic gear lube for automotive use.
- First to manufacture a 100:1 pre-mix synthetic 2-cycle oil.
- First to manufacture a synthetic automatic transmission fluid for automotive use.
These are not indicative of a scam. If you look at the list above, you will see that just about every major oil company has followed AMSOIL into the synthetic lubricant market and recently the extended drain market (with Mobil 1's recent release of it's 15k Extended Drain line)."
