Axle Compatibility?

I'm looking into options for some gear and lockers for my rig and I'm finding Tons of pulled parts available from various Yota and Junk yard sites.

My question is which axles and diffs are compatible with my 01 4unner.

Fronts:

1. Are all 4runner front diffs the same from 96-02?
2. Are 4unner front diff assemblies the same as the 95.5 to 04 tacomas?

Rear:

1. Are all 96-02 4runner rear diffs (3rdmembers) interchangable?
2. Are all 96-02 4runner rear diffs (3rd members) interchangeable with the 95.5 to 04 tacomas?

I understand about the actual axle differences (leaf vs coil spring) and the difference with the E-locker housing.

Basically I was looking to see if I could find and e-locker with a 4.56 and a front stock 4.56 and put them in.

Plus it will give me an extra set if I were so inclined as to learn a little about doing gears myself and clear this mystery.

Thanks

stock elocker rears are 4.30's, i don't think any stock 4runner ever came with a 4.56....i just know my truck came with 4.30's and haven't heard of any higher...also why not just get all new stuff? why spend alot of money on buying a used e-locker and gears? i mean unless you get it dirt cheap, for a few hindered bucks more then the average used price on most of these parts you can have all new stuff without the unknown or high mileage on them, plus with an ARB locker you get the on board air as well which is nice..

taco's are 8.4 inch we're 8 inch centers, as far as axle swaps you can put some taco axels on the front if you swap out the hubs and if your doing all of this work anyways might as well do the taco manual hub conversion and swap in some taco cv's
here.

TRD Tacos are 8", but non-TRD are 8.4" as others have stated. You can use the TRD 3rds though.

4runners:
5 speed elocked: 4.10 typically
auto elocked: 4.30 typically
4 cyl elocked: 4.56 typically.

Finding 4.56 thirds are going to be hard to come by. Best bet is 4.30.

Thanks this is very helpful. It looks like the only difference between the Taco front and the 4Runner front is the ADD or non ADD.

only on some tacos though, most had the ADD front diffs, but some did come with manual locking hubs, but no 4runners ever came with manual locking hubs.
