07 Fj powdercoated rims...need opinions
So I've seen a few of you rocking the Fj rims on their 3rd gens and I like the look. I've been wanting some black shoes for my rig for some time now, but wasn't sure which route to go. An opportunity arose to pick these up for a great deal, so I took a chance. I had a local powder coat company apply what they called "hammered black" to the rims. I was apprehensive on dropping $65 per rim without seeing a sample of the final product, but once I got them back, I'm very happy with them.
This is where I need your help/opinions...you can't pc the center caps, and I have been told you can't replicate the pc's 'hammered finish' from a quality rattle can. I typically don't like a two toned rim, but this doesn't look too bad. Do I go cap-less? two toned? or do you have any other ideas?

you may have some luck with plastidip for the paint but wheels take some major abuse so paint is most likely going take a lot of maintenance
I would order up some of these or find them on eBay. I've seen people use them for those wheels.
your wheels look good BTW. but yeah i think i got all 4 for around $50 but of course they didn't fit my pro-comps so i sold them a while back

I thought the same for those caps. My mechanic has some on display and I tried them out, but they don't fit properly. IIRC, those were designed for the TRD rims, not the alloys.
I considered plasti, but I think with the plasti on top of pc will look like spinners on a Bentley...

Frankly, I think they look pretty smooth with the silver/black look above.

If I were you I'd Plasti Dip them, then find a "Hammered" finish spray paint to see how close it matches. If you don't like it, you can peel it off and figure something else out.

Dupli-Color :: Truck Bed Coating
I use the aerosol version of that for a similar texture/look on some parts. Just make sure you use light coats from a distance, if you go heavy it won't have the texture you want.

You could match your body paint...thundercloud grey wouldn't look bad to me.

Plasti dip has it's uses and if the OP isn't sure which color scheme he likes then it's a great way to test different colors out since it's so easily taken off.
I agree though...white letters definitely in.
