Shorted something...

I was tapping my cig lighter, both the power and the light, and now my cluster is dark. In fact all the dimmed lights are dark (AT, cluster, climate, etc). I think I let one of the bare spliced wires touch the metal.

I lock the vehicle the blinkers dont flash, but they work when I use signals. The cluster non-dimmed lights work fine. The cig lighter has power still.

I replaced the gauge and acc fuses, not working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could have blown the rheostat/dimmer switch. I did that before and all the lights that could be dimmed wouldnt work. Check it by bypassing the dimmer switch and see if the lights would work then.

Thanks a lot, that was it.

I have a follow up question though.

The gauge I am connecting has 4 wires, 1 sender, 1 ground, 1 power, 1 dimmer.

Someone said that the dash lights are wired in that if I tap the light dimmed wire off the cig lighter and run it through the gauge to ground I might pull too much amperage and cook the rheostat.

Is this true?
