Metal Front Bumper
I have been looking for a new aftermarket front bumper for my 2000 T4R and really like the 4x innovation one. My only concern is that it is bare metal and not painted or powder coated. My question is, will it rust? On the website it doesn't mention anything about powder coating or protection of the metal. I have seen pictures of them and don't see any rust. Also how much would it cost to get it powder coated?

Paint it yourself before installing. You can even color match if you'd like.

They leave them bare metal to save customers $$ on shipping costs. They literally stick a shipping label onto the finished product and send it out. The reasoning is that once they have any sort of paint, UPS requires they be packed and boxed, which would cost a lot more to ship. Which I definitely appreciated, because the flat rate for delivering front/rear bumpers to my door was already over $300.
The bumpers are carbon steel and will develop surface rust within a day or so of removing the oil coating. Just get some Krylon Dual rattle cans and paint it yourself. Took me a solid day to prep, paint, and let them dry. Not a big deal. Powdercoating is largely not worth the expense if you plan on ever actually using your bumper. Rocks and road debris will eventually chip it up, and its a whole lot easier to just hit it again with spraypaint than to remove the bumper and pay$$ to get it powdercoated again, and again, and again....
I would seriously recommend 4XInnovations. Their bumpers are badass and built extremely well.

So many bumpers yet I can only put one on my rig. After hours of searching the contenders have been narrowed down to these three. So I'm looking to here from anyone that has these installed. Ease of install, fitment to front of rig, approach angle, re-use of factory skids(for now).
@ Relentless
Predator
@ AddictedOffroad
Plate
All-Pro Apex
They all look great imo so it's gonna boil down to how they actually fit. I can't see them all in person but Relentless is a four hour drive from my house. I'd rather have some member input before I make a final decision.

i have the Addicted Plate. i rattle canned mine and it came out great. prep work to mount the bumper was cutting frame rail end plates off and drilling 2 holes, then you can bolt their cross-member up and the bumper bolts to that. unfortunately mine didn't line up exactly, not due to the bumper, but my 4runner was previously in an accident. so i had my cross-member welded and bolted the bumper to it.
the bumper quality is great. i was torn between two bumpers too, and very happy i chose this one. you have 2 lighting options; LED turn signals or LED fog/driving lights. i opted for the fogs....it only comes with the lights and mounting hardware; no wiring harness/switch (small disappointment). the winch i used is a Smittybilt X20 series and it just fits in there, with slight cutting to the grille. also has 2 extra tabs in front of the winch plate to mount extra lights.
hope this helps.

They all look great!!! I don't think there is a bad or non functioning one in the lot! that looks like a hard decision. Good luck. Shockworks does a fantastic job also.
As long as you dont get one of those "Perkins" bumpers you cant go wrong.

I have a 4x4 Innovations front bumper on my 99, they ship bare steel, fits perfect with frame and fenders, nice and beefy. I coated mine in Monstaliner which can be tint matched to any color or chose tints from Monstaliner, I went with "pyroplastic" The problem with paint regular paint, it just doesn't hold up to chips and scrapes. Monstaliner has a nice orange peel texture, can be sprayed or rolled on, I rolled mine on, looks awesome. The backside I just sprayed with rustoleum. I then ordered the matching rear bumper and coated it with same stuff, I hit rockers and grill also.

I just got off the phone with Irbis offroad, sounds like they don't do fabrication work any more. Sucks, since I live like 10 minutes away from their shop location.

This may be listed somewhere but TJM are still availabele, free shipping even, powdered coated. And someone in Sacramento sells them on Craigslist for $550+ tax.
At that price gotta be offshore from China. I saw one in person, looked decent though...untested at that time.
