Received many parts!
LBJs, bolts, SPC uppers, Valve cover gaskets, cam plugs, half moons, switch panel, oil filter remover for my 5th gen, and have a few more things coming. Going to be a long weekend in the garage.

I just bought a 1999 Limited with 130k miles. First project is interior lights which I will start tonight. Probably do the deckplate tomorrow. I have a buddy that has a 50in light bar he'll sell me for cheap, but it seems way too large and I don't have a place to really mount it yet. Also looking at roof racks and a ladder. My biggest issue right now is the hood is in horrible condition (paint).

I have a short commute to work so this will be my project as well as my daily driver. End goal is to use it for camping and off-roading.

This is my first post and my first 4Runner so I am super excited to start learning.

The best rustproofing available.

Sadly, winter started today. First day of road salt. Luckily 4runner is safely away.

Question

Hey guys I'm new to this group but I have some questions
So I found a 2000 3rd gen 4 runner v6 4x4 with 171k miles it has a winch roof rack and it's already lifted with tires not sure what size they are but it looks 30s also that free down here in georgia . It also comes with some recent repairs information I will add the pictures of that below. They are asking 12,500 for it is it a good deal ?

Without seeing pics and more information, it is hard to say for sure but it doesn't sound like a bargain. The work noted was completed in 2018 so it is not exactly recent... unsure if the owner has only driven it 800 miles in two years or if I am missing something.

There is a buyers guide on this site, I would begin there and ask pointed questions with photos if you have something you're concerned about. Honestly, the truck is worth whatever its value to you is, that will depend on condition, preferences, intended use, and your personal budget. I personally would not pay $12,000 for a 20 yr old 4runner with average mileage for the year but I live in an area with pervasive rust and low vehicle values. Regional differences and condition make all the difference in 4Runner values so maybe someone from the Southeast will chime in.

Most importantly, noticed any squeaking? My current (OEM) UCAs are squeaking and driving me nuts.
I don't have them installed yet. Waiting on some rebuilt knuckles before I put everything back together.

Rebuilt my supercharger

I rebuilt my supercharger after a 5 month waiting list due to the covid epidemic... I have a factory (silver supercharger) on my 99' 4runner which apparently is rare and hard to find parts for. After searching for awhile I found a company, high speed lab, that could send me a rebuild. After I sent in the order corona virus stepped in and they closed for three months then it took another two to get my charger.. I finally received it and its back and running, but Ive also been contemplating on rebuilding the engine or getting a long block as I may have a head gasket leak.. Which is a whole story in itself. But what I'm looking for is some answers as to what upgrades i could do while Im in there and if I were to add more boost? I see some people say the factory engine can withstand the max boost that supercharger could put out. Id change the pulley and intake/exhaust maybe add a 7th injector. basically i just want to know if I'm going to do all the work of putting in a new engine should i have it modified for the supercharger?

Hi there. Any particular reason you are dreading the install? I just did JBA UCA's a couple days a go and the install went great. The only part that was even hard was the ball joint removal and that just took some force with the puller to get out. Hope you have good luck.

I have seen a lot of people struggle trying to press out the UBJ out. Any tips and making this install a breeze? Also, what tool did you use to press out the UPJ?

Harbor Freight has a ball joint removal tool that I used. It cost somewhere around 70 dollars and hope to use it on other projects. Or you can rent the tool from AutoZone. Don't forget to remove the C-clip from the ball joint.

When I removed my UBJ's the best removal tool was an angle grinder

I used a c clamp type pusher. I got in off Amazon for about $39.00 it was the 4wd model and it worked great. I did end up cutting off a couple inches of the stem of the ball joint to allow the c clamp to fit over all the adapters and cups. Took a bit of effort with a 1/2" breaker bar put was able to pop both off and install both the adapters for the JBA's with it. No damage to it.
Good luck.
