Took all of 2 minutes, but what a difference it made in looks.

I did end up ordering and paying for the new factory rack today. Buy once cry once I hope.

Ha! I hope you live in a dry place! I ended up hacking up 2 front-ends to get what I needed. One, was so corroded that it took a super human effort.. and 2 saws-all blades to remove the LCA.. AND I live in a dry climate... I sincerely hope you're right. Good luck!

... oh and the rack... I know exactly what you're saying about "buy once cry once" on OEM. Very expensive! I have looked into several options that range in price from a third to half the price of OEM, and by first hand experiences from other members, it appears these experiences are hit and miss--- one member actually ended up replacing a "good" rack twice before he had one with less play than the one he replaced! Some components don't "re-build" so well, or maybe the replacement parts aren't great-- I don't know.. Again, good luck and please let us know how it goes! Thanks!

I suppose it makes sense. It's a very delicate sensor system. A shift in the angle of a few millimeters would throw the whole thing off, but only enough that you would have the sporadic symptoms that you did. Either way, I have my front ones out for a complete suspension rebuild at the moment. I'll make sure to double check the angle when I put them back in now!

I decided to clean up the trailer hitch area. Just needs some paint and time to dry before reinstalling.

I'm in the PNW which isn't a dry climate but it is notoriously salt and chemical free. We don't see much rust or corrosion at all. The truck has always been in this area but some of the bolts have been challenging because of not being touched for 20 years.

This is a thing of beauty. I'm sad about how much old dirt and oil and grime it'll see between it's install and the VC gasket job.

And I picked up the cam bolts. A big FU to Toyota for their sticker placement. A little time with a razor blade and some isopropyl fixed me up...

Yesterda replaced a broken wheel stud on the front passenger...was a pretty simple and straight forward job

Wow, a thing of beauty! I wish I had the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for that bad boy! I can't believe they placed the parts labels on the outer cam tube...?!
Please document this and job, as I said I need to do this in the near future, as will lots of other members. Maybe start a thread... see my engine replacement thread: My Engine Swap in progress!

I'm a little deep in it now to document all the things but I'll share my notes when I'm done. I've mostly followed along with Timmy's videos (THANKS TIMMY!!) and lots of skipping around to the parts I need.

And now that I have enough posts, I'll likely start a build thread of my own.

I'm going to try my best to say this nicely...

Why would you want an 8 inch lift?

That is certainly much nicer than I was planning on being.
