And EWWW!! You didn't flush the system BEFORE putting in the brand new radiator?!!?!?! I had CHUNKS come out when I did mine (running cooling system cleaners through it several times for the week prior to swapping out the radiator).
Chunks coming out? I'm going to read up on some coolant cleanser write ups. If I'm compelled, I'll take the extra effort to do that soon. Not too concerned about chunks going through the new radiator as it all goes through tubes and out of the radiator.

But damn... now I'm wondering if the residuals of the old coolant may be lurking on the walls of the old houses and tunnels within the engine and other components. OCD setting in right about now..

*Okay, I just read into some cleansers and I'm a bit more convinced that it would have been much more beneficial to have used a cleaners prior to filling it back up with Toyota Red. I can see that if there's residual of the green left in the lining somewhere that it will loosen over time and mix with the red which is obviously not preferred.

So in my case, I may just do an early coolant replacement along with a coolant cleanser flush in my next oil change which is due very soon. - It's a slight waste of coolant but I'd rather pay a little than to compromise the coolant and potentially gunk up the lines due to the bad mixture. - Thanks for the insight.

I owned a 1996 4Runner that I brought back from the dead and ended up selling it and have regretted it since then.
I drove an hour last night in the dark to go look at a 1999 sr5 v6 MANUAL transmission with 175k miles on it. Regular maintenance was done, spotless frame and body (bumper rust on one corner), 285s and a small spacer lift and everything works but the antenna.
So I brought it home, not sure I wanted a manual but I bought it anyways...

Good, so my next question is how much of a temp drop was measured when the jiggle valve was oriented correctly (@ 6)? I am curious if others saw the relatively immense drop in temps (12 vs 6) that I did. I am 18-20 degrees cooler with no other changes.

Edit - Spiker makes a nice gauge mount.....

I observed that the water temp reading was around 200-204 with the unknown brand. - With the OEM, I consistent level at 190 around town. That's a good 10-14 degrees drop.

I did look into Spiker's gauge mount but my transmission temp gauge is already there so it'll end up blocking it. I have some spare bracket assembly plates so I might figure something out if I really enjoy putting that cup holder to some good use since it never really holds cups anyways

I'm trying out a Flowermaster 50 that I picked up from Autozone during a holiday deal; $50 for a 50.
20210105-162002

So far, I like the low end rumble it makes but the high end and highway sounds a bit overboard. I still have my old muffler and am going to see if this grows on me or if I should go back to the "nice and quiet" Toyota sound.

I figured I try some sound deadening mats to see how much it'll help with the sound. So far, it didn't change much but I haven't installed any mats in the front, console, and rear floor of the saloon. When that happens, I'll post if this stuff really works for low end sounds.

I'm starting to feel like I should make a Build thread with all these things I've been doing lately. - I might just copy and paste all my posts into a new thread, maybe.

Congrats on the new rig! What’s the issue with the antenna? I literally just fixed mine so if you have any questions feel free to reach out!

New Denso starter and starter relay. Starter kept trying to start even with no key in the ignition!! I was able to catch it and pull the negative battery connection in time. But the starter was already smoking and smelled like burning electronics!! Yikes (I was parked on an incline so I had to get it moved...)

Big shout out to @mtbtim for his video on replacing the starter!!

Looks great with the hood scoop you must be pumped! I picked up a 056 color match pen from the dealer when I purchased mine 96 back a few months ago and it doesn't come close to matching the current state of my natural white! More of a yellow white...

Tonight, I just started a Satoshi grill mod using a 2nd Gen Toyota, hard to find, radiator grill letter emblem. - Will post up once completed.

Got any pics from how it looks from the side?
Are bolt-ons better/worse/same as welded on ones?

Satoshi Grill with a 2nd Gen Emblem

I've been thinking about a Satoshi grill mod but I haven't been satisfied with the larger TOYOTA emblems that tend to make the grill look over the top.

I recall the original Satoshi grill had a old school Landcruiser TOYOTA emblem which was quite smaller and looked pretty nice on the grill. However, I felt that the retro TOYOTA font looked a bit dated and the newer FJ Cruiser TOYOTA logo looked too big.

I owned a 1991 2nd Gen that had the TOYOTA name plate on the radiator grill and it gave me the idea to use that for the Satoshi Mod. I previously sold my 2nd gen so I no longer had access to the name plate but I recently found one on eBay and snagged it right up for this mod.

I personally think the hard to find 2nd gen TOYOTA name plate is the way to go if you decide to do a Satoshi Mod:

I decided to keep my chrome trim and ended up using a matte rust/silver finish for the trim area and it matched perfectly with the lower valance color:

Example of a FJ Cruiser TOYOTA name plate:

Just as anyone who does this mod, I'm very happy with the result. I especially feel that using the 2nd Gen '90-'91 TOYOTA name plate for the Satoshi Mod makes works out really well with the font size and chrome lettering that matches the grill trim:

I'll grab a side shot today - they are subtle (I got the 30 degrees angled-up version). The flat version can be used as steps - not so much with these.

There are pros and cons for both welded and bolt-on sliders. The important thing is quality of the steel used, the skill of the fabricator, and the design. Nowadays a lot of people go with a kick-out design. I went as basic and tucked-in as possible. Minus 5 Overlander points.

@MoarRunner

I had to stop by the foot store earlier and I took a couple pics of the Shrockworks sliders...
