Thanks and wow on the miles.

I guess I got a little time since I'm at 170k.

Yours only 2,000 more miles than the '99's obvious-bad eminent failure ball joint when it was replaced....

Flexplate and Starter

Taking a mid day breather from a trans pull to replace the flexplate. The starter plunger didn't retract and resulted in catastrophic failure of the starter and broke the teeth off of the flexplate over a 4" area.
At least it happened in the driveway, too bad it's not level and gravel...

Ha, sorry...
My husband's 99 4Runner's left lower ball joint was replaced on the verge of failing at 168,000 miles. Better? Maybe I misread your post of oe lbj at 170,000.

I see said the blind man who picked up a hammer and saw.

I meant since his failed at 423k and I am at 170k, I got plenty o' time before I have to worry about.

Of course, you have to go and muddy up my little plan so thanks a lot.

Eddie

P.S. I think I'll roll the dice to 200k. That's about 14 years if this whole COVID-19 thing doesn't calm down, but we'll see.

Finished my supercharger and injector install this morning. Fired the 4runner and it ran great. No leaks. No issues. Test drive went great also.

Extra power is fantastic. Sound intoxicating.

Now I need to avoid getting a 7th injector somehow.

Mine at 192k... on a '99. At this point, AGE has more to do with failure than Miles:

Both were rusty, holding water (due to the torn boots), and I strongly suspect the first was near to failure. Be safe or be sorry, is the risk worth $200 and a couple hours?

Good point Brian. I did not realize they can be done so quickly so I'll have to look into this.

Thanks,

Eddie

New hat and shoes went on last night. Did a janky chop job on the bumper this morning, which I'm going to replace soon anyhow. Sitting in the garage are some new SPC control arms to hopefully eliminate the pinch-weld rubbing.
  • Rack from Sherpa Equipment Co
  • SCS F5 16x8 -25mm/3.5BS
  • Yokohama Geolander G003 M/T 285/75r16
