Fuel tank skid plate

Does anyone make an aftermarket one that is NOT metal? Mine is rusted so bad. I know that I could just remove it and repaint it but replacing it with a non-metal one would have greater benefits in my opinion.

I don't think there's anything like that out there. What are you looking for, like a plastic or a kevlar or something? May just be easier to clean and repaint yours

I dunno if I'd trust another affordable material to protect my tank.

I'll make one out of paper mache' for you and charge $50 less than Gerdo's . Can't vouch for the durability, but it is certainly lighter than stock or that burley model from Lil Skips.

ok let me point something out here, this is one of the lowest points on the car, and its your cars stomach... the factory skid works great for the hwy/fwy... but anything less than gerdo's skid and you will be left wishing you had got his skid... aluminum, will not support the weight of the vehicle and will crush/buckle under load(like the stock factory plate) and so will everything else so if you dont like the look of the "old rusty garbage" then take it off and roll like that, because wasting your money on something else is just that, wasting your money. it needs to be metal and it needs to be at least 3/16 thick and reenforced... i am running the lilskip (made by gerdo) tank skid along with the full budbuilt pans, and i have dented both of them, i know that if i had not had them i would have suffered a fatal blow to my runner a long ways a way from a spare tank or a tow truck to bring me home... getting a hole in your take will end you day fast, even if its from something you run over on the hwy on your way home from work. -how well do you think you would do if i came over and stabbed you in the gut? -i dont want haji shooting me in the guy so i wear body armor!

Wish my skid plate looked as good as that one when it is first removed. Mine is actually solid rust in color. Looks like I have my work cut out for me. Some of you guys should consider doing a comedy tour

man id just go to a wrecking yard a get of from there, or buy one of gerdo's, i mean even if you didnt paint his, it would take years and years to rust though, like your runner would fall apart from rust, motor and all before his tank skid would... probably one of the best investments I have made

Thanks guys.
I have actually made skids from Styrofoam. Actually foamcore (paper covered styrofoam). I'll use foamcore to make mockups and patterns.

I do have a new batch of skids back from my cutter.
