Colorado front range prices?

I'm looking at a 1998 Limited with 125,000 miles in Denver, CO. I'm not a gearhead so I have a mechanic checking it out now. The dealer is asking $3200. I'm looking for something good for a lot of miles with no major issues. I'm curious what are typical prices on the Colorado front range.

I'll be getting rid of a 1997 12 passenger Ford van when I find a new vehicle. I would love to get a 3rd gen. T4R. We are looking for something good for Colorado winter driving to ski areas and for light 4wd on mountain dirt roads to explore and get to trail heads.

I GOOFED. ASKING PRICE is $6200

My first thought was it's a very low price for a 125,000 mile limited. Make sure there are no surprises. Good idea to have it checked out. Good luck

As already stated that's extremely low. I paid almost 3x that much for my '99 Limited with 112k and a locker.

If everything checks out then take that puppy home and enjoy it; but be cautious as it sounds too good to be true!

Just talked to mechanic

I'll check on the title. It is a 4x4, v6.

It needs new tires and minor things consistent with the age. The biggest issue from the checkup is loud valve train noise. He said the dynamic power balance was good, but it's the noisest upper end he's seen on a Toyota. He's not a Toyota specialist and didn't know if it was adjustable or not.

Suggestions? Does this need further inspection?

what dealer is that at? i might beat you to the punch! lol kidding... too cheap, there's gotta be something wrong with it.

$6200 still sounds pretty low for the area. I would probably pass. If you're in no rush to buy keep looking and wait for a private seller. I hope you aren't looking at one of those cheapo dealerships you see on Colfax etc.

Agreed. Im gonna state it as a fact. Thats REALLY low for Denver. When I was looking two summers ago most of the ones I saw at dealerships in Denver and Ft Collins with that low of miles were between $9 and 11 K. Is that at the Al Rashad dealership? Wherever it is, personally I would be too hesitant to buy it at that price. Too risky. I paid 6000 for my 98 from a private owner in Ft Collins, with 161 k and a few small issues. So at a dealership I would have paid more like 7 for mine

Here is the car:

1998 TOYOTA 4 RUNNER LIMITED- AUTO - 4X4

I'd love to get a sweet T4R for this price, but there seems to be too many questions. The dealer's business title is CMC Auto, with an office in Aurora, no car lot.

If there are too many questions, walk away.

Don't be in a hurry to get a T4R. Most of the people on here (including myself) spent weeks or months looking for the right vehicle. If you're in no rush, I'd pass on this one and keep looking. You may have to expand your search since the T4R is pretty popular in your area.

You know, it wouldn't hurt to check it out. Make sure you check the VIN number and get a carfax on it. And look at the title. If they balk at any of those very reasonable requests, walk away. There are lots of nice 4runners in CO, so no reason to buy an "iffy" one.

Got the carfax and a toyota mechanics opinion

The carfax has spotty maintenance records and spotty mileage records. With a call to a listed shop I find the mileage on the odometer doesn't match the last service with mileage. It may be that the odometer broke, but it now shows lower than the last record I could find:
Current: 122814
last service with mileage: 166199

I didn't get his name but I talked to the man at Irbis Offroad | 720-276-6697 ||| 332 Norfolk street, Unit B, Aurora, CO 80011 III [email protected]
He thought this engine has problems, but explained what he would do for an inspection. He and his web site impressed me.

Time for me to look elsewhere.

Way to many flags. Definitely walk away. The guys at Irbis have a great reputation.
