Well I found the problem. So I'll post the solution in case some others happen to encounter the same problem. Like I said earlier, the problem was everything worked fine until I turned my headlights on. With them on, the brake light on one of the new lights didnt work.
Here was the problem. Some how on the new lights, one of the contacts in the socket had fallen down in the socket. I used a screwdriver to pry it up to match what the other side looked like, result.. WORKING TAILLIGHTS!! Hope this helps if someone encounters the same problem.
