Cargo Box & Deck
Borrow general layouts & measurements from BigFishAllDay & J.A. cargo builds.......
I pulled together my own Build. for the write up and spec's guys......
My Requirement List:
Create a space to carry my +size (285) spare - I don't like having my spare on top of the vehicle
At this point I cant afford a tire carrier
Under the runner isn't an option.
Utilize some small amount of cargo space
Keep deck space to strap down cargo
Be completely disassembied if needed for removal quickly for larger cargo.
Started with the boxes:
With Spare Tire:
Using the tonneao cover as BigFish utilized:
Wrapped up both in Indoor/Outdoor Carpet:

Excellent work, with emphasis on the removable deck. Added inspiration for me to finish my cargo box, so thank you!

any idea how much weight it adds? I've had a lot of ideas for my own build, but haven't had the chance to do anything with it. I do like the better use of space around the wheel wells though. My fridge has made that area extra useless.

My best guess would be the boxes and deck add in the 35 to 40 lb range. used 1 1/2 sheets of 1/2 ply. The wheel wells are a wasted amount of space......

Thanks man, had a few different ideas on how to accomplish it, this one just seemed to be what I could fab, instead of having something welded up.

Looks great!
One thing though.. If you are intentionally covering up the cargo compartment on the passenger side, why not incorporate it into that passenger side box?

I like the ability to quickly remove the shelf and the spare if needed. Nicely done!

Thanks Ripcord. To tell you the truth I really couldn't figure out a way to incorporate it functionally and not just be awkward space. Didnt want to perminatly alter the vehicle to make that happen either. Not saying it cant be done......

Nice job! Cheap, effective, and makes good use of the space you have.
I'll be doing something similar, but for stereo equipment on the passenger side. I will be utilizing the stock cargo compartment for extra air space for the sub. There's about 1/2 a cubic foot there if you take out the black plastic tub.
Anyway...good job!
