Air bags

I was going to remove the air bags from my part out truck but had a question about the possibilities of setting them off. This may be a dumb question but the only power source they have is the 12V in the engine compartment right or do they have their own battery?

Take the Airbag, wire it up and ignite them. Crazy loud and very powerful. Make a VDO.

Better yet, put the bag under the wreck and set them off. It will throw the wreck up in the air about 4 feet.

BTW, If there is no battery in the car, there is no way for the air bags to go off.

I was worried they may have an independent source of power in case the battery was destroyed before the bags deployed...glad to know I wont be putting my life at risk removing them.

They wouldn't be usable by someone putting their truck back together?

I've heard static electricity can set them off in very rare conditions.

Just ground yourself to be safe I guess

but if you ever get the chance ... put that thing upside down and put 12v to it (from a safe distance). if you've never seen the power those things have i bet you will drive a little safer for at least a little while.

That may be a good reason for me not to do it lol. I drive 60 on the interstate as it is after hitting that deer last month.
