Tired of my wussy sounding horn. Anyone done a horn Mod?

I'm tired of my mickey mouse sounding horn on my T4R. I want people to know when I honk my horn instead of laugh. Has any done a horn mod to make it sound louder and deeper? Haven't really been able to find anything without breaking the bank.

Try getting a pair of horns from any Cadillac at a junk yard. Those always wake people up!

I'm not sure you really need a mod. They make aftermarket horns and they are rather easy to swap out. I do it with all of my motorcycles. I use the Freeway Blaster with the low note. Costs like $15 bucks.

Now that I got rid of my stock muffler and free'd up that space I'm looking at a 3 gallon air tank and doing a air horn set up.

Tank is like 30$ ish
12 volt 3/8" dia solenoid plugged into horn power wire 40$
dual air horn 75$
and 40$ ish for misc fittings and some 1/4" dia dot air brake hose
maybe some welding on the air tank for mounting?

1/2 day install= good times
I've done 2 of these set ups already and its well worth it, you get many blasts with the horn, and if fittings are all tight with no leaks it'll hold air for months. I've never ran a compressor, just a line to the back with a schrader valve for filling.

Yep, I replaced mine with Fiamm Freeway Blasters, one low tone and one high tone. It's been several years, but they were only about $25 each at Advance Auto Parts. They're not train horns or anything, but they're MUCH better than the stock meep meep horns and were easy to install. They get people's attention.

I went with 2 FIAMM Freeway Blasters Horns, didn't cost me too much, think I got them on Amazon. Very simple to install.

I did Fiamm's, too. That was the first time my grill had ever been off. What a PIA that was the first time. Now we are both used to it and it comes off easily.

I'll take a pic this weekend when I have a whole bunch of things on the front end disassembled and out of the way (it's radiator/tranny cooler/spark plugs and wires/timing belt/water pump time). They're not much to look at though, just black with a trumpet bell on the end. I basically just disconnected the old horns and connected the new in their place. It's been so long I don't remember specifics, but I had to play with the ground wire to get them both to sound. The Fiamms come with wiring that is slightly different from the stock horns. Trial and error, basically.

Don't the stock horns have just one wire each? I think that's how mine are, anyway. I was looking at the PIAA 400Hz+500Hz horns on Amazon, but they appear to have 2 wires for each horn. Maybe there is a relay or something involved here?
