Search and Rescue Recovery

The Players

The Situation
A friend of ours ventured off by himself and got stuck in a pretty bad hole. Completely stock and high on adrenaline from his first time really being able to wheel. He was roughly 6 miles inside a series of deep woods trails. While searching for him, we were shocked how much he was able to get through. It was maze of tight turns, steep inclines, steep declines, rocky creek crossings, and plenty of pinstriper branches.

The Recovery
It took close to an hour to locate him and not lose his tread marks in the dirt. I hooked to the stuck one and my friend hooked onto me. We were able to do a tow recovery without any trouble this way or having to do a snatch recovery.

The End Result
We all got out with one of us learning a huge lesson for the day. An hour drive home with no problems just filthy soaked carpet. Live and Learn...

Nice work getting him out. One reason why it's always a good idea to run in pairs.

Drying out carpet sucks! Nice work on finding him and getting him outta there. I can imagine he sat in there for a good amount of time. Looks like a good time to change some diff fluids and pray to the wheel bearing gods.

It was funny just picturing him standing on top of his 4runner so he could get a call out to us with one bar lol. We kept having to stop and honk at one another to find the way. It's huge that people do not go off solo and elevate the dangers for themselves which he learned. we had to move faster once he told us his truck was slowly filling with water.

Some techniques that I have never seen before.
In gear, wheels spinning and no one in the drivers seat, a tow out again without a driver.
Time to strip the interior and hose it out.
