Question 99 4runner cat back exhaust systems?

Hi, guys, Whats the deal? I can't find any other than two? I can find a lot more for the 98? Way is that? I have two cats, that's the deference? Can I use the 98 on my 99 V6? I searched for the last 2 hours. Jardine catback system still available? I see the JBA one for the 98 is a nice price but I don't know if I can use it or not. Looks like I can if I take out the one cat, But wont that set the O2 sensor off. The pipe has a spot on the pipe to put it in there.. If any body can give a hand on this and updated me, I would really appreciate it. I really don't want to spend 600 bucks 300 or less if I could. I don't want a muffler shop to pinch me out a plugged up exhaust system. Thanks again! Jeff

Why do you want a cat back system? Is yours rusted out/damaged or are you just after sound? The general consensus is that the stick pipes are adequate. Just replace the muffler if you're after the sound.

And since you have Cali emissions, you have to keep both cats.

A little bit, but after looking at it. The previous owner put a new one on before I bought it and you can see it was a cheap muffler because of the smaller pipe in and out of it. Its smaller that the stock exhaust system. I'm sure its acting like a cork. Plus when I go up my hill going home, that baby hisses like a air leak in a hose.

Smaller than the stock pipes? Wow. The stock pipes are 2.25". Sounds like a hack job if it's leaking again now. Is there any saving the pipes and just adding a new muffler or is it too far gone?

Yeah you can see it's bottle necked down from the stock size. It's a bought replacement bolt on muffler. you could but I don't think it's worth it. More work that its worth. It's bottled down 2" from the flange. Then swelled back up at the flange, to bolt it up to the tail pipe
