manual trans- RPMs up and down when clutch is in???

so i have a new problem.... go figure... but i cleaned the throttle body the other day. went good, feels better. but. now i will be driving down the road at maybe 30mph, i will push the clutch in and drop the shifter between the gears, like i used to say coming to a stop light. but now the RPMs dont just drop, they stay up for a sec, then drop to about 800 like it should, but then within a sec they jump up to almost 2 and up and down between 1.5-2 for 3 sec or so then down to 800. it does it sometimes but not always. of course i try to get a vid and it stops, then i put it away and it does it.

another thing maybe is when my clutch is pushed in there is nothing. but when i let it engage when starting to move, or when i let it out and the shifter between gears, there is a squeak and sort of rattle coming from under the shifter hole. any idea on what that is too?

My tacoma does the same thing sometimes. I will be going and push in the clutch and put the shifter in neutral but the rpms wont drop like it is still in gear. Other times it will act normal so I am curious to find out what others have to say about this also

The throttle body linkage, hard to explain, hit it with some WD-40 and loosen the strings even so slightly.

Mine does it too. I have a new IAC to put in. I'm guessing that it is the issue.

sounds like a vacuume leak. grab a spray bottle and put some water in it. With the engine running spray mists of water around all of the vacuume lines. When/If the engine bogs a bit, you've found your leak. a light mist of water isnt going to hydro lock your engine.

this happened to me also and a few friends. pretty much your flap is not closing because of dirt build up caused that caused minor changes in the throttle body. you can try adjusting the linkage, but it also may be a worn spring like in my case. I have been trying to find a rebuild kit but no such luck. I will post it if i ever find it.

Gredo could be right about the IAC, but when mine happened it caused the IAC to go bad from over work and threw a engine code.

I have checked my vacuum hoses and all are good. I am guessing just a weak spring. I have a ghetto fix for now until I can find the parts I want that works pretty well.

anyway that's my 2 cents.
