Need new shocks help!

I have a 3rd generation 1998 T-4r sr5 with a 3.4L engine 2WD.

Recently, the car has been sagging and is having a hard time keeping steady on the highway which leads me to believe there is something wrong with the shocks. It's been 186K + miles and as far as I know they have never been changed.

Would anyone know the best (and I mean the best) types of shocks I could put on there? I'm not looking for lift, but something that would be good for occasional off road/hauling a boat trailer.

I am not a mechanical person, but do enjoy car stuff.

What are the most reliable brands?
What type of shocks are available? (gas shocks, regular, etc..)

What price range should I expect when a mechanic does it.
Is it recommended that I try to put the shocks on?

Can anyone tell me what type of struts are equipped on this model? (forgive the ignorance)

Bilstein HD's are probably your best bet. They are about 75 each for the rears.

^ Agreed. Bilstein HD's are great. Check out AJUSA.com, best prices I've seen for them. But if it's sagging, you springs are shot too.
