I have a 3rd generation 1998 T-4r sr5 with a 3.4L engine 2WD.
Recently, the car has been sagging and is having a hard time keeping steady on the highway which leads me to believe there is something wrong with the shocks. It's been 186K + miles and as far as I know they have never been changed.
Would anyone know the best (and I mean the best) types of shocks I could put on there? I'm not looking for lift, but something that would be good for occasional off road/hauling a boat trailer.
I am not a mechanical person, but do enjoy car stuff.
What are the most reliable brands?
What type of shocks are available? (gas shocks, regular, etc..)
What price range should I expect when a mechanic does it.
Is it recommended that I try to put the shocks on?
Can anyone tell me what type of struts are equipped on this model? (forgive the ignorance)
I just ordered mine for 152 with shipping included on tirerack.com. Can't wait to get them.
