Swapping 1st Generation TRD Supercharger from a 1999 to 2000 4Runner

I recently gave my 1999 TRD Supercharged 4Runner Highlander Edition (2WD) to my mom and picked up a 2000 4Runner Limited (4WD). My mom's been complaining about having to purchase premium fuel for it so I'm thinking about swapping the SC to my car.

Do they remove anything from the engine when installing a SC? Is there anything I would have to replace on the 1999 when I remove the SC? If there is, would I be able to take the missing parts from my 2000 4Runner when the swap was performed?

I hav e done the swap, there is nothing you will need that you cant just swap off the other one. Very straight forward.

Thanks guys. Yeah I bought the 1999 used and I think the SC was dealer installed so no URD 7th Injector but I'm definitely going to get it when I do the swap. I've never heard of piggyback ECU. What does it do?

It "piggybacks" on the stock ECU, allowing the 4Runner to change fuel trims, enter open/closed loop, yada yada.

It comes with the URD 7th Injector Kit.

That is the 7th kit.

There is a reason Toyota stopped making the Supercharger for this engine. The fuel system just can't give it enough fuel at WOT, and stock ECU can't retar_d the timing enough...yada yada.

The 7th Injector Kit essentially makes it a lot safer to run the supercharger on the 5vz-fe. It eliminates any engine pinging, which could lead to severe engine damage.

The 7th injector is by no means a requirement. Yes it does make allow you to make more power but i know of multiple 3.4's with the supercharger that do not have fuel upgrades and do not have any issues. One of those is my 4Runner that is running with a 2.2 pulley and zero fuel upgrades. However, altitude does play a big part in it. If i was at sea level, i would not run a smaller pulley.

Just some food for thought.

I'll second that. My 1st Gen S/C is running beautifully with no extra fuel mods.
I am using the standard pulley and the "free fmu" mod is all I have. I was also running regular gas for a long time, albeit at reduced power due to the mentally challenged timing (stupid censors).

Not true, I bought a brand new one straight from Toyota about four months ago. You can pick them up new online or from your dealership of choice.

The URD kit is not required per se, but it does make the system work better.
