Lesson learned
So I was up in the White Mountains of AZ near Pine Top. With an extreme lack of recovery gear... Not even a shovel. It wasn't heavy snow but some sections of the road had snow drifts on the road under the trees was clear. As most stuck stories go I gradually got in over my head but the the main road was just a mile up the road and I can make it around this then it turned into a half mile... A hundred feet... And then I'm stuck. Not to the point I couldn't get myself out if I had a shovel. I didn't have a shovel. So after 2 hours of trying to get my self out its time to make some calls. Luckily I still had a single. Got a tow truck driver on his way with a 4x4. I keep trying to dig my way out by hand and start getting sick... So I decided he's taking to long and call 911. I get a call back from forest service give them my lat, and log. They ignore it and can't figure out where I'm at... This bothers me my wife can find me on google maps but these guys can't figure it out! Finally the tow truck guy shows and I tell them I'll be fine and get off the phone with them. I meet the tow truck on the main road (witch is covered in snow I didn't come that way but didn't want to go back the way I came) he tells me he got stuck twice. I wasn't surprised the truck he brought was a beat to hell 80s something F-150. I'm thinking it will pull me out... I was wrong! He goes to drive the rest of the way up the road and the truck just shuts off... Died.. Not starting... When I had him on the phone I told him to bring a shovel and a come along. I figured tow truck drives had these things in there tow trucks but once again I was wrong...No come along but He brought half a shovel. I will gladly say I was the idiot to go wheeling unprepared but I'm not going to go try and save people that way. So we dig my runner out. Get it on the road and decide to try and drive it down the mountain. It gets stuck a good 50 yards from the Ford. Deeper then before. So this guy calls a buddy. While we are waiting I fix his truck it was the coil. He try's to pull me out and gets him self stuck... Winner! Then his buddy shows up in what I expected him to show up in. A 90s F-250 diesel. Pulls him out pulls me out and after 7 hours we are back at the cabin in the shower trying to get warm.
I learned a lot. Be prepared!

I'm never off by myself without a shovel and a comealong and a couple straps. Been stuck without too many times.
Did the tow driver still charge you after you had to fix his truck and drag his junk out too?

This thread caused me to pull the trigger on the recovery gear I have been needing to buy. So you helped another person out.

That's really lame. I'd have yanked his coil, pushed his junk into a ditch, handed him his cash and drove off, lol...

Man this kind of story reminds me of why I now carry my camping gear in the 4Runner full time.
Pics would be great if possible. Did you try to air down?

Yes I aired down.
And sorry no pics.
I'm going to pick up a shovel and a hand wench tomorrow. I'm also looking into a way to mount a box on the roof rack so I can have it all handy at all times.

Similar thing happened to me and I had a brand new come along, recovery gear, and a shovel. Even being somewhat prepared and alone can turn into a bad situation.

The forest service needs to invest in one of these for the future:
