The radiator has just as much coverage with our bumper as theirs does. Its a winch bumper and with a winch in there, everything is completely protected.

Our bumper weighs 68lbs with a stinger on it. Non-stinger is 55lbs. The added crossmember we supply is about 15lbs.

Compare that to a full plate, and you won't have to run "heavy" coils to run it. Bolt on an ARB or similar bumper, and you better have heavies to hold the weight up.

Didn't want to start a new thread for my noob question so I decided to hijack this one. Does anyone know if an older toyota pickup (early 90's) bumper will work on the 3rd gen? I assume it wont just bolt right up but is modifying it feasible?

It won't bolt up and it will take a lot of modifying to make it work. Probably not worth the effort and money that will have to be put into it.

You would need the 3rd gen crossmember.

Custom Toyota Plate Bumper
Here is a Tacoma version. it will be a lot easier to make it work. $100 more, but will take less time and money to make it work. I saw that bumper this morning and liked the look.
