First Post/Intro Thread
Hey guys,
first time owning a 4wd toyota, previously had 2wd 22re pickups. I am always (or have always) been on the look out for a clean 3rd gen 5sp w/ a v6 and finally saw one pop up for sale, and with one previous owner I jumped lol
98 sr5
114xxx miles
not sure what other options there are? the stuck antenna option? lol
anyways I paid 4700, thought I did ok? only thing is it will need tires in a while it seems, maybe get another 5k out of these.
Took it off into the mud with some friends this weekend, whats an intro thread without pics!
While it was still clean coming in to the place we ride bikes ususally (first time driving in with 4wd, what a relief since my 2wd trucks always managed to get stuck in the deeper sand)
obviously i had to make fun of the jeeps getting stuck
This was yesterday parked at work
Anyways, I have a few questions...
I need a keyless entry of some sort. It didnt come with one, and I wasnt sure what my options were. Dealership?
Guess thats it for now. Need to fix the antenna with a manual one and do something about these speakers because they are sounding awfully tired.
Just had all the fluids flushed (diffs, oil, coolant) at a friends while getting an oil change and everything looked to be ok. Going to get it aligned when I buy tires.
guess thats it for now. cheers!

I'd say you got a good buy, congrats. Looks like you're enjoying it. Any plans to lift it or anything?
There's an eBay keyless entry remote that works great. I think it's $19.99. I have it for mine for the same reason.

If you have a link for one that you know would work that would be great!
I have debated lifting it, but I dont really have plans of getting too serious with it off road.
Im going to put some nice A/T tires on it. I already modded the intake and put a hi-flow catco cat off of an older car I had. Probably weld up a 2.5" exhaust for it since its so quiet I sometimes stall forgetting what gear im in lol

I have the stock keyless remote from my 98...can you use that and just reprogram it? I got a remote start, so it's of no use to me. Does anyone know if that'll work? It looks just like the one the eBay ad says it replaces. I'll just send it to ya.

Welcome! you got that Runner for a STEAL compared to mine. That's cheap! Also, that color is my favorite all time color on a 'Runner.
I got mine (98 SR5 4X4) for roughly 7.1K, but to be fair, it already had brand new BFG Rugged Trails (installation/tires/balancing = $1200 + ARB Bumper (900 installed) was around 2100), so...

I agree!
thats the best angle for her though, the face is (meh)
Thanks for the links guys, I'm going to try out that key fob (unless the guy above wants to send one and if it doesnt work ill return it back?)
How much of a ***** is the running board removal going to be? looks easy enough, and personally I dont like them.
I'll be back down south NJ in the sand this weekend and I'll update with some more pics. I'll be bringing my dirtbike this time so probably less pics unless I can find somewhere to park it and jump over it
