Cylinder one misfire error code without the misfire

My 2002 T4R check engine light comes on occasionally, every few months. Only when driving on a trip using cruise control. When this happens the ECT light comes on too. The error code is always misfire cylinder 1. I am not having a signs of misfire. I am stumped. Any suggestions? I thought about plug wires, but since this seems to be an electrical gremlin of some sort. I decided to hold off.

It sounds as if the electrical gremlins have indeed bitten you.

Is it the ECT little green light or the check engine light?

Both the check engine and both ECT lights come on. I think they are yellow. Both the ECT and ECT Failure light come on. The are on the lower left of the instrument panel

I did not know there is even a ECT failure light.

Which exact numerical code is produced?

Do you have an aftermarket stereo in place or add anything electrical-in-kind since buying the 4runner?

I think the error code is P109. Random misfire cylinder one. I have added two sets of lights. The are connected to the accessory fuse and the radio. I may disconnect the lights for my next road trip to see if that helps.
