weird squeak from rear of vehicle
Hello all,
I'm hoping to get your input on a weird problem my wife is experiencing with her '00 SR5. Her vehicle has about 65K miles on it, and as of a couple of months ago, it started squeaking every time she steps on the brakes. The noise in question is not a brake squeal; it sounds like a rubber bushing type of squeak. It is definitely coming from the rear of the vehicle, as I can hear it clearly by placing my ears around the rear wheel wells. The noise is the same loudness whether I listen to it from the left or right side of the vehicle. At first I thought it may be break dust buildup in the rear drums, but I don't think that's the case, as it sounds more like a rubber squeak than a grinding noise. The noise happens when the truck's mass is shifted forward under breaking, and it last only a second or so right before coming to a complete stop. I can reproduce the noise every time by simply rolling very slowly (walking speed, if that) forward and stopping. Any ideas? Thanks very much in advance for your assistance on this.
