bigger spare tire mounted

I just upgraded to 265/75/16 Nitto Terra Grappler from the stock 70 aspect ratio tire. Used the same Toyota OEM rims.

1. Do any of you upgrade your spare tire to a bigger tire to match 265/75/16 that sits under the body behind the rear bumper ?
Any real need to or will it ride really bad if I have to use the spare tire with the upgraded tires?

2. If I upgrade the tire to the bigger 265/75/16, will it still fit under the vehicle mounted?

Thanks ! J.p.

I personally wouldn't worry about that size difference too much but wouldn't ride on it long that way. Should be fine until you get another replacement tire as long as your rear is open or if you have a locker, then don't engage it. Maybe others will chime in because I could be wrong.

The 265/75 should fit in the stock location.

I have the same setup and it works fine. Like cj80 said, as long as you're not locked or use the smalller spare for long distances it's ok.
The longest i've driven on the smaller spare was 60 miles.

1. Yes, I got a 265/75/16 spare when I got those tires. But not a new tire. I went to a used tire shop and got the tire and had it mounted for $50. I just wanted the assurance that, if I had to, I could use the spare for longer than a few miles.

2. Yes, the 265/75/16 spare fits in the stock spare location. It has a little bit of room too, so even a brand new tire with full tread would fit.

Not a problem. I didn't change my spare when I went to the bigger tires.
