Transmission shift problems

Ive searched all over and can't find any help on my problem.

I've got a '97 T4R 4x4 v6 with automatic transmission, and sometimes when coming to a stop or going from drive to reverse the transmission acts like its sticking between gears just like its in neutral. I can revv the motor up and it will drop into gear and jerk real hard, I've already tried flushing the fluid and changing the filter.

So is my transmission toast? Or is their anything else I should try/check before I buy one and swap them out?

Thanks for the help!
E

A weak battery can cause transmission shifting problems. Borrow a known good battery and see if it affects it. You can google the topic and you'll be surprised how common a problem it is.

This.

Low fluid caused mine to have your exact same symptoms. At a stop sign it would act like it was in neutral and not engage until 2000 or so RPM's. The torque converter wasn't getting the fluid it needed. I was about 2 quarts low at the time.

The fluid was real dark but not black and didnt have the burnt smell to it like it would if it was slipping. It started a while back only doing it when it was cold, and now it does it all the team and seems like when I turn the overdrive off its not as bad.
