Proud new owner of a 3rd Gen
hey guys, long time visitor, first time poster. Picked up a 2000 4Runner SR5 Highlander (Sport) back in February with only 96K on the clock. I've wanted one of these since back in day.
It's all silver with the hood scoop, roof racks, sun roof and the towing package. I tinted the windows, put some in-groove window vents and plastidipped the front/rear bumpers, fender flares and the part surrounding the hood scoop. It looks awesome!
Just hit 100K so I did the fluids in the front and rear diffs, tranny and transfer case and motor oil, greased the drive shaft, replaced the shocks/struts with bilstein 4600s and dropped in a new air filter and cleaned the MAF.
In the next couple of months I'll be doing the timing belt/water pump/radiator/etc.
Just wanted to say hey, and thank you guys for keeping this site up and awesome.

Aloha, and congrats on the taking the posting plunge. Although I'm still fairly new on here I have learned a ton of information about my 2000 Sport and made a few friends as well.
PICS PLEASE?
Welcome....

gonna dip the old center caps and see if i wanna just leave the centers black or do the whole wheel. you can see where the dip peeled on the front passenger fender flare. no biggie. will just peel off and do it over.

I'll be honest, when I read about the plasti-dipping you had done, i wasn't sure if it would look good...
but I really like it!
Keep on keepin on man! Nice 4R, welcome aboard.
P.s. Silver is the best color for 4Runners! I'm a little biased though! Haha!

Looks sharp. I like the idea of the center caps only. Gives a good contrast.

I just went to walmart and got some of the semi gloss silver spray paint. A little sanding and prepping and the center caps look good as new, minus the dark Toyota emblem. That requires some pretty tedious taping to get right...

installed new O2 sensors due to the CEL coming on. Also replaced the fuel filter. Will say that both write-ups in the buyer's guide are spot on! The new fuel filter paid instant dividends. Before the swap, I was experiencing some coffee-bean grinding sound above 3K RPMs when under a load. Took the runner on the highway after the swap to see if the problem was gone...poof! She sounds beautiful.
I gotta say, I love the dude I bought this from. He didn't take it offroad once. I don't have a speck of rust anywhere under this thing!

I dig it - tons of potential there for sure. The grille looks cool like that too - sound like your first mods were the same as mine with the Plasti. Careful, the mod thing is addicting and starts getting more expensive than a can of PD.
