Power Antenna question

Over this past Holiday season, I put a new head unit in our 3rd gen. My daughter is the primary driver and she almost exclusively listens to her ipod through the HU and, therefore, the antenna never goes up and down. I know it worked when we installed the HU, but because she never uses it, we only recently discovered it will no longer go up when the HU is set to "Tuner". I don't hear any noises coming from the antenna motor - just nothing happens. Is there perhaps a fuse that is specifically for the power antenna? Or is it likely the antenna just died? If so, how difficult is the taco whip mod, just to take the power ant out and put a permanent mast antenna on?

Check your wiring for the HU. When I did mine, I did not connect the power for the antenna, as I don't have a power antenna. Maybe when you installed, you didn't connect that one. If its from Crutchfield, it should be labeled on the harness, and the directions should tell you which one to connect it to.

I would agree with that too. The connection for the power antenna could have come loose. The most common issue with the power antenna is the antenna track breaking, but you'd hear the motor trying to push it up and down.

I can check the wiring but it was definitely connected when i installed the head unit. I specifically tested it before putting everything back together.
