I Upgraded
I bought my '98 SR5 2wd 4runner in 2006, and I have loved it. It's my daily driver, and I love being able to load people up for a surf trip in Mexico, or snowboarding in Big Bear.
(Mexico)
But, I have been in search for the past few years of a more capable 4x4 runner, and I found it last weekend. I flew up to Sacramento and drove it back down to Orange County on Friday night, and it's awesome!
Supercharged V6, 5 speed, SR5 Highlander, with upgraded leather interior, 98k miles. This is the only pic I have
Going up to Big Bear this weekend, hopefully I can test her out and get some more pictures. I've never really wheeled (other than Mexican dirt roads) since I've only had a 2wd, anyone have any recommendations on any trails up there?

Supercharged, manual, Highlander edition, with under 100k miles . . . thats straight up awesome man! The exact truck I would get if I could. Nice find, and one of my favorite colors for the 3rd gen. What did you pay for it?

Holy hell, I am so jealous. That is the truck I was looking for when I was in the market for a 4runner a few months ago. I ended up settling for a 2000 Limited. I gave up the 5-speed for AWD and a rear locker. How much did that cost you? A fortune?

Probably cost him his left nut.
That's a very rare find. Lets see some more pics of it.

I pad $9,500. I did a lot of research, including reading through your Buyer's Guide, and I think I got a fair deal, not a steal.
$9k-10: 1999-2002 Limited or Sport Ed. in Excellent condition with Low-Mid miles (100k+).
(From the Buyer's Guide)
I'll try to get some more pics up this afternoon.

That should have been worth 10.5-11k at least.

Check out gold mountain in big bear. John bull, dishpan, and Holcomb creek are only doable with some armor . There are a lot of other trails through big bear but aren't all that exciting. Also Onyx trail I've heard is fun but never been. Check out cleghorn too.

Yeah dude that's a pretty good deal. Does the vehicle have all the timely maintenance done on it (Timing belt, water pump, etc.)? I think I would've paid $9500 for that vehicle. I got mine for $8900 OTD. If you check my build thread, my GF bought an SR5 with 67K miles last year for $9800 OTD (California truck, zero rust, all that jazz). I'm so jelly of you though... Nice find! I look forward to seeing a build thread by you eventually!

Very happy for you, but I'm so irritated right now!!
I shopped for that exact set up for 4-5 months late last year, and ended up Auto, Less Locker, Less Charger, cloth in the Bay area for what is actually a great deal on a nice Runner.
Then this one pops up literally 10 Minutes from my house:-(
I know people always say what for exactly what you want, but my 'situation' at the time couldn't wait any longer.
Fantastic buy, enjoy!!!

Nice rig! What kind of rubber? Looks aggressive
Behind black and desert dune that would definitely be my 3rd favourite colour. Desert dune is just way too easy to keep clean.

On second thought you might want to invest in some sliders for big bear. I actually used them on gold mountain and its the easiest of 4x4 trails out there...aside from all the dirt roads
