same thing with my seats when i bought the 4runner. i wound up replacing the seats since the leather was ripped and the mechs' were seized.

took 2 days total to fab up new seat brackets, paint, and get everything mounted up correctly.

Same problem but worse

Hello
I need help here. all my four worm gears worn off. It got stuck, then released. Finally not moving at all.
I need to purchase those worm gears.
Any idea where?
I can produce it in a 3d printing machine if anyone can get my a CAD file.
Thanks

3d printing will likely be a short term solution. If you can get a CAD file, get them molded at Fathom or similar supplier, and make a bunch for the rest of us!

My solution was to steal the gear from the passenger seat.

My '96 had a short of sorts on the passenger side and the wire harness melted. Cut out the wires that went to the seat and rear fan and rig is back up and running sans a passenger powered seat ha ha So obviously I cannot move my seat forward/back or tilt. Does anyone know how to manually adjust the power seats without taking it all apart?

Front Power Seat Track Gear only 93-97 - $19.99 : CruiserParts.net, Toyota Landcruiser Parts

There's also a copper gear sold on amazon for 45. Looking into whether this is the same part in a 4Runner.

The LC gear is different! You'll see that it is completely different when you flip your power 4runner seat upside down and look at the gear.

I just contacted one of the companies. They said it's the same gear.

Cool. I did the same a couple years ago and they said it was different. What's for sure is that the picture of the gear for sale doesn't match the 4runner gear. Please do report your findings once you have the gear.

Did your seat move at all?
Mine only goes forward to a point and stops.

Sorry to reopen this old thread, but can replacing that gear fix an issue where the seat doesn't move forward or back at all? reclining the seat does work though.

If you don't hear the motor at all then replacing the gear won't help you

My motor has to be dead then. I did at one time hear a very small hum but it is now completely dead. I sadly have to wait for a junkyard to supply a good used motor.

Has anyone had any luck with the replacement gear? The land cruiser one definitely doesn’t work, The tooth count doesn’t match.
Hopefully these pictures help, it’s a 2 part piece that’s solvent welded together

I went down the same road in 2015: tried the Gamiviti LandCruisier gear, and it wouldn't fit. I was able to find a donor gear from a used seat, and got it back together. I wish I would've measured the good gear while I had it off, and then I could provide a CAD model to you or Gamiviti. I guess I'll take the measurements of a good gear when it fails again!

BTW, prototype plastic molded parts are quite cheap these days. If it were me, I'd contact Gamiviti, but if they don't want to reverse engineer the gear, then I would do a short run of molded parts and sell them here. I wouldn't make any money on it, as this thread shows that this isn't as big of a problem as it is with the LC.

Since I replaced the gear in 2015 I tell everyone to not adjust the seats unless they have to! And as I'm the only one that drives the rig, the driver's seat very rarely gets moved.
