What tools do you suggest for checking front toe-in at home on your 4runner?

In another thread, it was determined that my 2WD 4Runner needs, at the very least, to have the front alignment retested.
- Advice sought for the likely cause of premature front right tire wear (11k miles)

As noted, the best tools of the alignment shop are for naught if/when the mechanic is sloppy; so I will check the toe, myself, at home first.
- Toyota 4Runner alignment specs

Running various searches on this forum such as a 3rd-gen-title search with "DIY" & "Alignment", I'm surprised I haven't (yet) found a comprehensive 4-runner-specific home-alignment DIY (it must exist but I just haven't found it yet).

So, first (basic) question is:
Q: Where is the best 3rd-gen 4runner front-end alignment DIY on this forum?

Luckily, I can find plenty of front end alignment DIYs on the net; so at this point, I'm at the stage of finding the right tools I need to purchase for a home DIY alignment at a reasonable price:accuracy ratio.

There are LOTs of different tools suggested, and some are at a reasonable price point for a home DIY - but before I buy - I'd like to ask your learned advice.

Given that there are three basic methods of testing toe, each of which uses somewhat different tools:
- Toe Plate method
- Toe Bar Method
- Tire Scribe Method

The topic of this thread is:
Q: What tools do you use to check your front toe and where do you buy them?

What I do is take two pieces of straight bar stock, at least three feet long, and bungie them to the outside of each tire, perfectly level, perfectly centered. Then I measure between the tips before and after the tires, and adjust as needed.
