More evidence Mother Nature hates 4Runners
I was heading down HWY 285 near Aspen Park, CO last night and a giant buck (6-pointer I'd guess) jumped out in front of me. I only had time to rail on the brakes, which I think was good cause swerving would have made things worse. It was a blunt/square hit and I sent him about 50 feet... 10 minutes later, he walked away
Just glad it wasn't worse! Headed to get an estimate now...

Gotta love Geico: already got an estimate and they cut me a check for $2k! Looking through it now, hopefully they captured all the damage in their estimate.

That $2000 check wants an ARB bumper.

If you decide to use this opportunity to upgrade to a offroad bumper, I'd get that and a Certifit scooped hood & have them both color matched! Maybe look into salvage yards for the fender & filler plate below the pass headlight. Might even be able to have the fender straightened? Glad you didn't have the buck come thru the windshield & sit in your lap!

Yeah, one of the first things we talked about after was how glad we were the buck didn't go up over the hood - maybe it was the ~2" lift that helped?!
I am thinking along those exact lines as far as fixing it goes.
I'm a bit concerned that the inner fender is actually more bent than the adjuster realized. It's hard to see in the pic, but the gap between the hood and fender is quite a bit larger on the passenger side than the driver side. Also, the radiator is no longer square to the radiator support, so it seems like something bigger has moved.
I am going to look further into this estimate and get a second one to compare. I want to do the work myself (aside from the painting), so I only get one shot at the estimate since they told me only a 'licensed' shop can request supplements to the estimate.

Glad you are OK. At least it wasn't an elk. I wouldn't ride my motorcycle at night because of deer. Definitely time for a bumper upgrade.

Agreed! Do you or any fellow Denver-area people have a body shop to recommend?

I'm going to guess from the looks of the truck that he didn't go too far.

Hey Fish... glad to hear you are OK after that hit. I'm the guy who bought your old cargo cover a year or so back... anyway, I'd recommend Hank's Auto Body... I've used them in the past with good results. Conversely I would not recommend Hampden Auto Body... horrible stories from that joint. Regardless, best of luck man! - Mike

Thanks for the heads up, that's really good to know. Pretty sure that is the route I'll go; hopefully the radiator support and/or inner fender wall aren't bent beyond my own repair abilities so I can fit all of this w/in the insurance funds...

Hey Mike, thanks for the tip! I am going to see what kind of an estimate I can get from them... might have them do some of the work too.
Has anyone dealt with Irbis offroad? They always have ads on CL and thought they may be a good resource for this sort of thing...
