People that have taken their factory running boards off.....

Did any of you have any issues with rub marks in the paint from where they had been? I haven't taken mine off yet, but just pushing the plastic back on them I can see a really obvious wear marks in the paint on both front fenders.

Didn't have any rub marks but did have some marks from rust all the way down. Damn NE.

Ya, I have some very minor surface rust where the paint has been rubbed through. I'm worried it'll look like poopski if I take them off.

I took mine off and re-did my rocker panels with bed-liner. I had enough rust that I wanted the protection and doing stock paint would've been expensive. Then I filled the rocker panels with rust oil. The only thing I don't like is that the front end of the truck looks skinny because of the three inch reduction of silver color by the black color. I want some sliders or bars to balance the look. The running boards are too good at catching salt and slush for me.

I've peeked under my fender flares and there is definitely some paint damage under there. I assume the running boards are the same. It will either require some significant touch up or a 2-tone paint job to hide everything.

I'm possibly leaning towards having the bottoms of the doors rhino lined if I decide to take the boards off. I just wonder how close they can come to matching the factory color.

Why would you want to take them off, for more clearance off road or something?

you mean like these marks?

Yeah,I think we all have them... I have them on all 4 corners. When i took my RB'S off I almost fainted.it's a good thing i ordered my bushwacker extenda flares they will be installed on thurs with my lift ..

Now, on the other hoof if the BW'ers DONT cover these marks you will hear a semi grown man scream... or cry.. or both

I too had the rub marks. Bought the mud-flaps mentioned earlier and they fit great. A word of warning though, if you have a lot of miles the bottom fender bolt will probably be rusted out and break off. I ended up having to drill mine out and use a long self tapping screw instead of the bolt they give you in the kit. Other than that it was a pretty easy job.
