toyota 4runner buyer's help

Hey guys.
Right now I am saving for a 3rd generation Toyota 4runner and I am needing some help on which year can give the best milage from a manual transmission.
Their reliability, durability, and maintenance along with anything I left out. I know it is a great SUVS from what I read but I would like to hear from former 4runner owners.
Thanks a ton!

Manual is available from 96-00. As far as mileage and reliability go, you really can't go wrong from year to year. It's just a matter of finding one that's well maintained. And read the buyers guide on here, it'll help you out a lot.

Maybe when they were new, doubt you'll see that anymore. But they're not bad on gas for what they are.

Don't buy one for gas mileage though.

You might see close to that mileage with a 4cyl stick...

Awesome, sounds great but I bet there is not much fun in the 2wd 4 cylinder.
