cracked Head

Hey guys I cracked a head on my 98 4runner ( guess I need to stop getting in it all the time). Anyways I've already ordered a set of jdm high compression sport heads. So my question is how long can I run the runner with a cracked head will it be all right? My order will take a week to get here. TIA!

Run it that way all you want, just keep coolant in it and make sure it's not frothing the crap out of your oil.

Whats the difference in compression ratio between the USDM model and the JDM motor?

If you're raising the compression on already tired motor you're just asking for trouble. Pull the block and get the bottom end rebuilt at the same time. Trust me on this.

Never heard of these heads but any head that gets milled down will have a smaller combustion chamber thus raising the compression ratio. If you're spending a lot on these heads, I'd highly encourage you to just look around for a set if used heads. Then order the LCE rebuild kit, have them mill and redo the heads. You'll be all set.

JE sells full Toyota spec heads for $700 per side. They are shipped from Japan.

Yeah I think I paid almost 850.00 for them and that was after the discount an auto mechanic freind got me by buying wholesale directly from manufacturer). They just came in today and we'll be putting them on day after tomorrow. I was gonna get the TRD ones but they were too much and technically they are for a tacoma I think, but they fit. I was planning on buying a lift with that $ but a well..... I'll talk to my buddy about possibly needing to rebuild the engine but he said that old block should take the added compression.
