Question 98 4runner cranks over but wont start

i have a 98 v6 automatic 4runner with only 63k miles on it. a week ago my car died. luckily i was able to start it up again after an hour and drove it home a few miles away. every since, i can start my car but it dies immediately every time. it will do a full crank over, then die. tried changing out the spark plugs, ecu, electric relay, MAF sensor. someone told me it might be the fuel pump. what are your thoughts?

Fuel pump sounds like a good place to start. I'd do that and the fuel filter just to be thorough. A friend's 4runner had an aftermarket alarm in it that would kill the fuel pump. It did the same thing as yours when triggered. Start for just a half second and then shut off.

Engine needs spark, fuel and compression to run. I doubt compression is the issue, so check the plugs/wires/coils and check the fuel system.

x2 on fuel pump. These fuel pumps do NOT prime when the ignition is turned on. It's only going to get power during the starting cycle and after its fired. Good to know for troubleshooting. Good luck
